Threads of History: Beyond the Common Ideas of the Feminist and LGBTQI+ Movement

This educational booklet presents selected "windows into history" that highlight key moments in feminist and LGBTQI+ movements. It explores themes such as the historical inspirations of feminist movements, tactics of revolutionary feminism, internal debates and conflicts within feminist movements, as well as tensions between feminist movements and wider society.
The publication also introduces the development of gender studies, men's studies and queer studies as fields that shaped contemporary understandings of gender and sexuality.
Rather than offering a comprehensive historical overview, the booklet focuses on important shifts and contexts that help explain how current debates on gender equality and LGBTQI+ rights have emerged. It also brings perspectives that move beyond a purely Eurocentric narrative.
