PROJECTS

GIC NORA participates in international and national projects focused on gender equality, inclusive education and social justice. Below are selected projects representing our main areas of expertise.

Prevention of Gender-Based Violence in Academic and Research Institutions

Programme: Norway grand
Topic: Recruitment, Working Conditions, Gender-based violence
Years: 2023–2024

This project focused on strengthening the prevention of gender-based violence, sexual harassment and gender bias in universities and public research institutions.

The main output is a set of training packages combining short educational videos, questionnaires and methodological guidance. The materials are designed to help institutions build awareness, strengthen prevention and support safer and more inclusive working environments.

The training covers topics such as sexual harassment, psychological and economic forms of gender-based violence, gender bias in recruitment and career development, gender-inclusive communication, work–life balance and the gender dimension in research.

GIC NORA:

  • developed the concept and content of educational materials addressing gender-based violence and gender inequalities in academic and research environments,
  • created training packages for employees, managers and members of selection and evaluation committees,
  • prepared pre- and post-training questionnaires to support evaluation of participants' knowledge and attitudes,
  • developed methodological guidance to help institutions implement the training,
  • participated in the pilot testing and evaluation of the materials in academic and research institutions.

The tool enables institutions to combine awareness-raising with practical training and evaluation. It can be used as part of staff development, onboarding, Gender Equality Plans or broader institutional measures aimed at preventing harassment and discrimination.

Key outputs

Training package – Series 1
A set of educational videos for employees introducing different forms of gender-based violence, sexual harassment, gender bias and gender-sensitive communication.

Girls' Labs – Encouraging Girls in STEM

Programme: National programme
Topic: Gender equality in STEM, education, evaluation
Years: 2023–2024

Girls' Labs is a motivational STEM programme designed to challenge gender stereotypes in career choices and support girls' interest in science and technology fields.

The programme combines hands-on STEM workshops with teacher training focused on gender-sensitive teaching practices. An innovative element of the programme involved the use of thermal cameras in physics workshops, allowing students to explore scientific concepts through practical experimentation.

GIC NORA conducted the impact evaluation analysing how participation influenced students' perceptions of STEM subjects and gender stereotypes related to career choices. The organisation also developed a methodology for gender-sensitive communication and delivered training for teachers and mentors on gender-sensitive education.

Key outputs
